I love yoga as well, especially in contrast to more high-energy activities.

One of my favourite activities is a simple walk - the fresh air, outdoors, makes you notice things you may not have noticed before and it's excellent meditation. Good for the heart, good for the soul I say.

That's horrible! My mother used to fall prey to a lot of stuff, but nothing really bad. She did end up with about 100 Reader's Digest books, and she kept getting these "free" gifts, little chintzy stuff that invariably ended up in our Christmas stockings.

Croatia is on my travel list! Vienna is lovely and so is Budapest which is only a few hours away. Egypt was a disappointment for me but you have to go! Jordan and Petra is where I want to get to haven't managed it yet Ephesus in Turkey is pretty amazing too. Laos and Vietnam are both amazing Thailand has nice beaches but its all a bit manufactured for the tourist these days.
I have lots more travel stuff on http://travelover30s.today.com - its my passion to!

Yeah, the snacking at night is not good. What you can do if you want to snack is set a time. For example if you go to bed at midnight you should not be snacking after 8:00 and when you do snack, make it yogurt or fruit which is what I do.

Also, exercise is most important. Even if you just get out and walk 15 minutes a day you'll see changes.

I eat oatmeal as well but not all the time. I sometimes have Multi Grain cheerios or cottage cheese and fruit. I always have all three around and change according to my mood. I always look at the fiber content and I found that the Multi Grain cheerios along with an apple or pear is perfect. And kudos to you on your cholesterol score. That's fantastic.

What I've found is that other people allow me the freedom to have these beliefs now that I'm in my 40s. Before then they would try to convert me to their more narrow vision of life. I like the skin I'm in - wish it weighed less - but I like it! :)

Congrats! on your routine. Last year for about the entire year I began eating healthy, adding much more vegetables and fruit to my eating plan as well as grains and high fiber cereals. I also walked about 4 to 5 times a week for about 1 to 2 hours a day. The result, I went down two sizes, had alot of energy and was able to buy some new clothes :) Long story short, since I came back from a trip earlier this year, I stopped walking and although I still eat healthy I'm beginning to gain my weight back. I think alot if it is in the mindset and right now I'm just in a lazy mindset.

I am a woman approaching sixty. I live alone, work full time and this summer I decided to finally write the novel that's been bouncing around in my head for forty or so years. I am past the halfway point of the first draft. I have felt euphoric, despondent, happy angry and sad, sometimes within the same hour. Mostly I feel empowered. It's not as easy as I thought it would be when I was twenty, but now I'm not too tired, or too bogged down with other responsibilities to actually accomplish my hearts desires. I will finish my book, lose fifteen pounds and march into my sixties happy, healthy and glad to be alive.
